Who is Groovy Lab in a Box and What Is This Month’s Theme For Groovy Lab in a Box?
Groovy Lab in a Box is full of everything a child needs to learn about and to do hands on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) experiments.
Each box activates thinking, questioning, inquiring, and original creation as they guide your children through the “SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY & ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS.”
Your subscription includes a monthly delivery of Groovy Lab in a Box science inquiries, engineering design challenges, and access to “Beyond…in a Box”; a member’s only web-based learning section on the website.
September’s box is It’s Electric – A Lesson in Electricity!
In the It’s Electric box, your children will explore static electricity, origin and structure of the atom, paper circuits, switches, a groovy door alarm to keep any trespassers out of their room and much, much more! Click here to learn more and to sign up!
Engineering Design Challenge: You are a groovy electrical engineer who has been contracted by the latest groovy dance group. Using only the materials from your Groovy Lab in a Box, can you design and build a groovy dance pad with specific criteria and constraints? Well, with Groovy Lab in a Box you can get your children start young and get them interested in STEM and in no time they will be a STEMist.
As always, the It’s Electric box will have a groovy a Lab Notebook, where your kids can read about that month’s topic, perform investigation activities and document their findings. They will investigate, brainstorm, plan, build, test and redesign their own Electric creations. While the investigation activities have step-by-step directions, STEMists (your children) won’t have detailed directions to complete the Engineering Design Challenge. Instead, they must rely on their critical thinking skills, and what they’ve learned through the investigation process from the Lab Notebook and online activities located on the Beyond…in a Box web portal, which adds additional learning and fun.
